What’s New for 2020/2021

What’s New

While we aren’t making significant changes for 2020/2021, we have made some changes to our medical and voluntary benefit plans:

Medical Plans: The following changes are effective July 1, 2020:

Preferred Plan:

  • Office visits at Valleywise Health provider locations will increase to $20 for PCP visits and $40 for specialty office visits.

POS Plan:

  • Tier II (Choice Plus providers) deductibles will increase to $1,500 for single coverage ($3,000 with dependents).
  • Office visits will no longer be a copay but will be coverage at coinsurance after you have met your deductible.

HSA Plan:

  • Due to IRS regulations, the deductible will increase to $2,800 for single coverage and $5,600 if you are enrolling dependents. Learn more.
Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

If you enroll in the Valleywise Health HSA eligible CDHP, you must re-enroll in the Health Savings Account as IRS rules require an annual active enrollment.  For single coverage, the maximum 2020 deferral is $3,550; if you are covering dependents the maximum you can defer to your HSA is $7,100. Learn more.

Payroll contributions

There will be no changes to the per pay check cost of the medical and dental plans. Voluntary Vision premiums will be increasing. Learn more.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

If you enroll in the POS or Preferred plans, you can also participate in the FSA. This account lets you set aside pre-tax dollars to use for eligible medical, dental and vision expenses. Participating in the FSA, maximizes your pre-tax savings and if the funds are used to pay for qualified expenses, you will not pay tax on this income. For 2020/2021 the healthcare FSA deferral limit will increase to $2,750.  Learn more.
